Willye B. White Community Center

The Willye B. White Community Center is at 1610 W. Howard Street.

It was visited during the 2009 Annual House Tour.

The field house and what was was Gale Park were named in honor of Willye B. White.

Completed in 2008, the field house for Gale Park and community center is the fruit of the hard labor of many community residents. The North of Howard community is justly proud of this new state-of-the-art facility. The community center is named after Willye B. White (1939-2007) who was an Olympian, nurse, and educator. After competing in five Olympics (from 1956-1972), she practiced professionally in the field of nursing, and went on to participate in numerous prestigious programs in the health care field.
