Son of: John E. and Catherine Irwin; nee: Catherine Tobias

Educated at: Everett High School, Circleville, Ohio;

Married: Sunday, December 14, 1884, to Carrie B., daughter of Dr. Samuel Wagenseller, of Pekin, Illinois;

Child: Walter B. Irwin

Learned printing trade, 1868-73, Cincinnati, Ohio;

Published Circleville (Ohio) Advertiser (weekly), 1873-6;

Came to Chicago, July, 1879;

Employed for 8 years by Cameron, Amberg & Company, 1879-1887;

Advertising manager for James H. Walker & Company, dry goods, 1887-1890;

Organized Phillip Grain & Coal Company in May, 1890, and is now managing partner.

Democrat, 1905, 1911.

Mason (1911), Royal Arcanum (1911), Royal League (1911), North American Union (1911)

Clubs: Birchwood Country Club (treasurer), (1911); Edgewater Golf Club, (1911).

Recreations: golf, billiards, and bowling.
