West Chicago Street Railroad Company

Organized in 1887, it acquired the Chicago West Division Railway Company in 1887 and the Chicago Passenger Railway Company in 1889. The West Chicago Street Railroad Company operated independently until 1913, when it became a partner in the Chicago Surface Lines. In 1947, the Illinois General Assembly created the Chicago Transit Agency. The Chicago West Division Railway Company ceased to exist and its properties were merged into the new CTA.
