Thomas P. Keane was the father of Thomas E. Keane

Thomas P. Keane, was a longtime worker in the 31st Ward Democratic organization, served three terms in the Illinois State Legislature, and was elected alderman in 1931.

His son, Thomas E. Keane, was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1938, and then took over the 31st Ward aldermanic seat in 1945 when his father Thomas P. Keane died.

Alderman Keane' 67, Dies; Injured in Fall Tuesday

Thomas P. Keane, (1878-1945), 67, of 2935 W. Augusta Boulevard alderman of the 31st Ward and active in Chicago political life for 40 years, died yesterday, Friday, July 13, 1945, in Walther Memorial Hospital. Death was caused by complications arising from a fractured hip suffered Tuesday, July 10, 1945, when he fell in his summer home in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin.

At his bedside yesterday were his widow, Catherine C. Keane; his sons, Illinois State Senator Thomas E. Keane (23rd) and LeRoy W. Keane, a broker, and daughter Grace C. Keane. Another son, Navy Lieutenant George M. Keane, is in Boston, Massachussetts. Four grandchildren also survive.

... It was believed likely that a special election will be called to fill the vacancy since the next aldermanic election will not be held until 1947.

Funeral services will be held in St. Mark's Catholic Church, 2510 W. Cortez Street.
