then messenger boy for American District Telegraph Corporation and the Atlantic and Pacific Telegraph Company;

went to work, 1876, for Chicago Board of Trade firm of Brown, Flemming & Co., and continued in Board of Trade work, first for others and then for self

elected, 1902, Sheriff of Cook County, in which office was installed, Monday, December 1, 1902.
