The Lang Mansion, was built in 1919, as a country lakeview private home in what was a new area marketed as "Birchwood Beach Estates" at 7421 N. Sheridan Road, one block west from Lake Michigan in Rogers Park.

The Lang Mansion was designed as a American Foursquare Prairie School home, and has original stencil and murals that the Lang family commissioned. The home was originally designed by architect, Edgar M. Newman.

Over the years the home has housed WBBM-AM, a radio station in the basement, been occupied by several families, and has served as a women's boarding house for female students from Loyola University Chicago.

It was operated as the Cat's Cradle, a bed and breakfast and small private reception home. It offers not only lodging, but can accommodate small groups for private receptions or catered events for up to 40 people.

Cat's Cradle was owned by Jennifer Pritzker and managed by her Tawani Enterprises Inc.. Lang House is now marketed as a Gay-Owned B&B.

In December 2013, the name of the bed and breakfast was changed to The Lang House.
