Sons of Connecticut

In response to your e-mail to the Connecticut State Library regarding a group call "Sons of Connecticut," I checked our manuscripts and archives catalog, but found nothing listed by that name. What seems the most likely is that he was a member of a Connecticut division of the Sons of Union Veteran's of the Civil War, perhaps known locally at that time as Sons of Connecticut. His birth date seems to support this theory. In the book "Record of Service of Connecticut Men in the War of the Rebellion..." compiled by the Adjutant General, 1889, there is a Henry H. Barber who is listed as being a Private in Company A of the 23rd C.V.I.
