Ross Barber Shop

From HistoryWiki

Ross Barber Shop opened in September 1945 at 2639 W. Devon Avenue. It moved to 2813 W. Devon Avenue in 1987.

The owner was Ross Filecia. His son, Joe joined his father in 1966.

In the 1940s and 1950s, the shop was filled with boys virtually every day after school. They were there to choose one of the three parent-approved haircuts, a crew cut, a flat top or a "regular" hair cut. Most boys came with instructions from their mothers and faced the embarrassment of a return visit with a parent if the barber did not receive the correct information.
