Present day Engine Company 102, Truck Company 25, and Ambulance 56 were located at 1723 W. Greenleaf Avenue. They are now housed in a new fire house at 7340 N. Clark Street. They are in Fire District 2, Battalion 9. Engine 102 and Ambulance 56 offer advanced life support.

Engine 102 Original Fire House Building

The property is an inside lot 64.5 ft x 174 feet and was purchased on September 30, 1908. There is an alley running along the western side of the fire house.

This fire house was built in 1915, is a two-story brick building with two bays, and was the first to be built without a stable; as it was never intended to house horses. The size of the original building was 40 x 54 feet with an original floor size of 38 x 50.3 ft. In 1940, the fire house was enlarged by a two-story addition measuring approximately 40 x 30 ft to accommodate a modern fire truck and other modern apparatus. Later, the floor had to be shored up to insure that it could hold the heavier, more modern equipment.

Engine 102 Original Fire House History

Engine 102 was relocated from 7077 N. Clark Street (the former Village Hall for the Village of Rogers Park) to the new fire house on Greenleaf sometime in November 1915. The exact date is not known, but it is believed that this move coincided with the arrival of a new Seagrave Engine, D-102, in November 1915.

Truck 25 was relocated from 1545 W. Rosemont Avenue to the Engine Company 102 fire house on Greenleaf on January 31, 1926.

And, Ambulance 56 originated at the Engine 102 Fire House on May 7, 1999. It was assigned to Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Field Division North, Area 3.
