Rockwell Residence

From HistoryWiki

"House on a Bluff," in Olympia Fields, was designed and built by Henry Philips Davis "Deever" Rockwell as his own family’s residence in 1964. It was featured in several print articles about modern architecture of the time (including Architectural Record, September 1965; Realty and Building, May 15, 1965, and Arts and Architecture, 1965.)

The house, made of steel, glass, and natural river rock has many features in common with Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House and Philip Johnson’s Glass House. The landscape is integral to the design of the house, including a dramatic massive boulder in the parking court.
