Robert Suddards Lucas, Chicago manager, John Lucas & Company

Born: Gibbsboro, Camden County, New Jersey, on Saturday, July 30 1870.

Son of: John Lucas and Harriet Annie Lucas, nee: Harriet Annie Bowne

Education: Episcopal Academy, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Briar Cliff Military Academy, Sing Sing, New York, graduating from Briar Cliff on Wednesday, June 20, 1888.

Married: Marie Esther Lucas, nee: Marie Esther Collier, in Chicago, on Friday, April 26, 1895.

Children: Robert Suddards Lucas, Jr., Richard C. Lucas, Harriet Marie Lucas

After leaving school in 1888, he entered the Philadelphia house of John Lucas & Company, (founded by his father John Lucas in 1848), wholesale manufacturers of and dealers in dry colors, varnishes, brushes, glass, and painters sundries, and since December 1893, has been the manager of the company's Chicago offices.
