Morgan, Thomas

From HistoryWiki

Thomas Morgan was an Englishman who, in 1844, purchased the land between 91st and 115th streets along the ridge in the area that would become Beverly Hills and Morgan Park.

He built a home in the vicinity of 92nd Street and Pleasant Avenue and called it "Upwood," after his father's home in England. He farmed the land and bred livestock until his death in 1857. His heirs sold the land to the Blue Island Land and Building Company who subdivided and developed it.
