Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

Marshall Fay was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Friday, February 14, 1845. In 1867, he went to Will County, Illinois and worked on a farm for one year. Then he engaged in the lumber business in Muskegon, Michigan. Then he returned to Will County, Illinois where he resided for seven years.

He served as Deputy Sheriff of Will County, Illinois for six months, then as keeper for two years of Stateville Correctional Center, at Crest Hill, Illinois, which is in Will County, Illinois.

In 1875, he came to Chicago and has been in the employ of Fairbanks Morse & Company, as a constructor of scales.

Marshall Fay has resided in Rogers Park since 1880.

He married Irinda Fay, nee: Irinda Spafford of Will County, Illinois, on Tuesday, July 8, 1873.

They had two sons: Orville H. Fay and Edgar A. Fay.
