Louise Smith now Louise Smith Fortman (1871-1956).
Louise Smith was the daughter of Peter Smith, Jr. and lived in the family's home at 6836 N. Ridge Boulevard.
Louise, married Fred Fortman and thus began the Fortman family ownership of the house from 1894 to at least 1995. The Smith and Fortman families were originally from Prussia and devout Roman Catholics who worshiped at St. Henry Church a half-mile South at Ridge Avenue and Devon Avenue.
