married: Joanna Hamilton Penwell, Joanna Hamilton, of Ironton, Ohio, on November 23, 1909.
Admitted to Illinois bar, 1909, and since practiced at Chicago;

Walker & Penwell, 1915;
now associated in practice with wife who was admitted to bar, 1915; specializes in chancery, real estate titles, supreme and appellate court practice.

Left home at 14 and traveled extensively in the West;
became an adept with swords and won American championship as mounted swordsman, 1905;
gained recognition as fencer and Indian Clubs swinger;
was also widely known as "The Cowboy Wrestler," and wrestled for world's middleweight championship, 1906;
teacher of fencing, swordsmanship, etc., at University of Minnesota
later teacher of fencing and wrestling at various Y.M.C.A. branches in Chicago.
Extensive contributor to newspapers on athletic subjects.
