Lewis Elmer Larson, secretary, Chicago Board of Education

Born: Leland, Illinois on Monday, November 2, 1874.

Son: Jacob Larson and Elizabeth Larson, nee: Elizabeth Peterson.

Education: Graduated Jennings Seminary, Aurora, Illinois, 1891.

Married: May Woodruff Larson, nee: May Woodruff Wildman of Chicago, on Wednesday, August 4, 1897.

Children: Lucile Larson, Leonard Larson.

Stenographer for the South Branch Lumber Company, 1891-3;

Private secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of Chicago during incumbency of Superintendents Albert Grannis Lane, Andrews, and Cooley

In fall of 1889, was elected by the Chicago Board of Education as Assistant Superintendent in charge of the Evening schools of Chicago

In December 1900, was made Secretary of the Chicago Board of Education, which office since December 1910, carries with it the general management and control of all business matters outside of the educational department.
