Mr. & Mrs. John W. Sweet lived at 1231 Pratt Avenue, in the 1895 Chicago Blue Book, page 288. This was the first issue to provide addresses of Rogers Park residents.

John W. Sweet was a developer of the neighborhood which included 1540 W. Pratt Boulevard, (was 930 Pratt Avenue), Circa: 1897. Two relatives of John's, Hiram and Hallie Sweet, were the original owners of the Carlson/Nevins House.
This house was included in the 1994 Annual Fall House Tour.
