Jarlath Street

From HistoryWiki

Jarlath Street Soundex Code J643

7232 N., from 2600 W. to 7728 W.

This street was named for St. Jarlath (c. 445- c. 540), who was an Irish monk and scholar from Connacht, Ireland and later Bishop who founded a Monastery near Tuam, Ireland. He is the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of Tuam.

The Chicago City Council passed a lengthy ordinance January 14, 1895, rationalizing the street naming system. Because Jarlath did not exist at that time, no addresses on Jarlath require converting.

Not listed in the 1895, 1897, 1898, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 Chicago Blue Book.
