Mr. & Mrs. James F. Pratt lived at 767 Jackson Avenue, (now Estes Avenue), in the 1895 Chicago Blue Book, page 269. This was the first issue to provide addresses of Rogers Park residents. Pratt made his living as a salesman.

James F. Pratt was born in Massachusetts. He was a Trustee on the Rogers Park Village Board, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1888; President, 1890.

Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

James F. Pratt was born in Sterling, Massachusetts, Thursday, January 1, 1852. He came to Chicago in the fall of 1873, and January 1, 1875. he connected himself with the wholesale boot and shoe house of Phelps, Dodge & Palmer, and the following two years traveled in Illinois and Missouri. In January 1877, he gave up traveling, and accepted a position as house salesman, which he has occupied up to the present time.

He has resided in Rogers Park since 1875, and has been one of the Trustees of the village for the last five years.

Mr. Pratt married Helen A. Pratt, nee: Helen A. Chaffin, of Holden, Massachusetts, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Wednesday, August 20. 1873.
