Ida B. Turnbull

From HistoryWiki

Ida B. Turnbull was the sister of Lillian N. Turnbull, of Galt, Ontario, Canada, who married Ernest S. Hough on May 31, 1905, becoming Lillian Mary Hough.

It seems that Ernest, his wife, Lillian, and sister-in-law, Ida, all died on the same day, July 3, 1940, in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Query made to Benton Harbor Public Library (http://qrc.ipl.org) [ref#12106868] on 1/25/2012 to learn more about these three deaths. Here is their reply:

Chicago Tribune, July 5, 1940, page 12--

Two more Chicagoans died yesterday in the St. Joseph's Sanitarium, St. Joseph, Michigan, as the result of an automobile crash Tuesday, which killed Ernest S. Hough, 5335 N. Magnolia Avenue, the driver. Hough's car plunged off U.S. Highway 12 and struck a tree a few miles south of St. Joseph.

Those who died yesterday were Mrs. Lillian Hough, 66 years old, his widow, and Miss Ida B. Turnbull, 68 years old, sister of Mrs. Hough. Mrs. Florence Brown, 60, of 4429 N. Beacon Street, the fourth passenger in the car, is in a critical condition at St. Joseph's Sanitarium.

Ernest S. Hough was vice president and treasurer of American Cross Arm and Conduit Company.
