born in: Albany, New York, on Tuesday, August 10, 1852;

son of: Truman S. Gillett and Hannah Gillett, nee: Hannah Noble

education: graduated from West Division High School, 1869;

married: Adnah Gillett, nee: Adnah Miller, in Chicago on Wednesday, September 3, 1873,

children: Evis Gillett, (Mrs. S.P. Hayward) Walter Noble Gillett.

Began in employ of Gillett & Vernon, paper merchants, 1869;

then in firm of Clark, Friend Fox & Company, 1875-81;

organized, 1881, the Chicago Paper Company, of which has been president since 1896.

Member Chicago Association of Commerce, Illinois Manufacturers' Association.

Republican.

Mason, Elks; Royal League.

Clubs: Chicago Athletic Club, Edgewater Golf Club.

Recreations: golf, motoring and fishing.
