born in: Warren County, Ohio, on Saturday, July 25, 1857;

son of: Joseph Conover and Catharine Conover, nee: Catharine Barkalow

education: public schools and at Northern Indiana Normal School, Valparaiso, Indiana;

married: Kate N. Conover, nee: Kate N. Sayles, in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Wednesday, April 20, 1881;

children: Harry S. Conover, G. Raymond Conover.

Taught in district schools of Butler County, Ohio, 1876-80;

engaged in retail hardware business at Valparaiso, Indiana, 1880-5;

sold out and came to Chicago and became associated with the Chicago Telephone Company in the contract department;

soon resigned and took position as manager of the Home Telegraph Company of Kansas;

returned to Chicago and became purchasing agent for the Electrical Supply Company, of Chicago,

and

afterward engaged in independent business as a general purchasing and forwarding agent for telephone, electric railway, and other electrical material.

Director of the General Engineering Company.

Republican.

Congregationalist.

Clubs: Birchwood Country Club, Birchwood Golf Club.

Recreation: reading.
