Fruen's Wheat Flakes

Fruen's Wheat Flakes is made from the best Pacific Coast White Wheat, claimed to be "the great nerve, brain, and muscle food," "The indigestible matter being entirely removed." In fact, such claims were exagerated because Fruen's contained 1.8 percent of woody fiber, which is indigestible. Its chemical composition indicated that it was made from a decorticated wheat of average composition. From its high percentage of fiber and ash, it seemed doubtful if any considerable amount of the outer coating had been removed in the preparation.
