Edward Hines Lumber Co.

From HistoryWiki

Mr. Edward Hines founded the Edward Hines Lumber Co. in 1892. Hines was among the first companies to segregate delivery of lumber into standard sizes and grades based upon customer specifications. Hines also established an elaborate distribution network starting with sawmills, centralized distribution points, a nucleus concentration yard in Chicago and finally, retail outlets throughout Chicagoland.

Today, under the guidance of the founder's grandson, Edward Hines, Hines operates as one of the largest building materials suppliers in the region. Their facilities include a full service Millwork Division (that has its own custom shop, steel door shop, lock shop, and interior door line), Cabinet Division, Window Center, Commercial Division and 4 full service lumberyards, albeit none in Chicago, proper.
