According to the Monday, July 10, 1978 Chicago Tribune, the 24th District Station was scheduled to be opened in September, 1978.

This new police station was put in service on Thursday, March 1, 1979. Before then, the 24th District was located at 7075 N. Clark Street, the former Rogers Park Village Hall.

Before the new 24th District Police Station was built, the site was occupied by the Devon Avenue Car Barn, 6454-64 N. Clark Street.
