The Diana M. Brittain Polio Foundation was created in honor of Mrs. Diana M. Brittain, of 2640 W. Greenleaf Avenue, a young mother of two, who died on Saturday, August 2, 1952, of Infantile paralysis, other wise known as Polio. The president was Gilbert H. Brittain, her husband. A total of $2,500 was raised to purchase an Iron lung by members of the Foundation.

In her memory, an iron lung was presented to the Cook County Chapter of March of Dimes in Wesley Memorial Hospital.
