Charles Cleaver-father, was born Monday, May 7, 1781, in England and reared in London. He married Jane Barker, daughter of William and Ellin Barker, in London in 1811.

With a family of sixteen children and $50,000, Charles and his wife Jane made his way to America about the year 1833. For a time, the family settled in Toronto, Canada. One of the children was son, Charles Cleaver-son, another being William Cleaver.
