Chicago Surgical Society Soundex Code C220

Chicago Tribune, Wednesday, April 22, 1914, page 23:

Chicago Surgical Society's name changed to Chicago Academy of Surgery. This change was evidently connected to a lawsuit announced in the Tribune, Friday, January 9, 1914, page 11, in which an older organization named the Chicago Surgical Society complained about a new corporation that was using their name.

This older society was founded in 1900 and is still active today (1914) (http://chicagosurgical.org/about.html).

Any memberships before 1914 are impossible to determine as to which society is being credited as the one the listee is a member. So, as a matter of convenience, since we can't tell which society is involved, we'll list all claiming membership on this page.
