The Chicago City Directories listed people and businesses before there were phone books. In many instances, the City Directory also listed where somebody worked.
Most physical copies of the Chicago City Directories can be found at the Newberry Library. In this listing, only those available on-line are listed, so this will not be an all-encompassing list and many omissions will, therefore, exist.
