There was a Bull's Head Tavern erected in 1848 at Madison Street and South Western Plank Road, now Ogden Avenue near south Ruben Street now Ashland Avenue. According to Harold M. Mayer in Chicago: Growth of a Metropolis the cattle yards nearby were called "Bull's Head" (p. 257).
