married: Laura U. Braun, nee: Laura U. Haussler in Buffalo, New York, on Thursday, April 2, 1868;

Children: Rosa Clara Braun (now Mrs. Charles Edward Browne); Freida Laura Braun, (now Mrs. James C. Downs), Sidney D.R. Braun

Served 4 years' apprenticeship as metal spinner in Germany;

came to U.S. February, 1867;

worked at trade in Buffalo, New York, 1867-70;

came to Chicago, August, 1870;

worked at trade for Taft, Schwamb & Company until November, 1874;

member firm Braun & Geiss, 1874-7;

changed to Braun & Abbott, 1877-80;

bought out Mr. Abbott, 1880, and conducted under own name until incorporating the David J. Braun Manufacturing Company, 1889;

retired from business, April, 1915.

Republican;

was one of trustees of Rogers Park when it was the Village of Rogers Park;

treasurer of North Shore Park District.

Member of Herder Lodge No. 609, A.F.&A.M.;

Member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows

Office: Washington Street and Union Street.

Residence: 4165 N. Ashland Avenue (1905), 6800 N. Ashland Avenue, (1911, 1917), (Rogers Park).
