Today the site of Lost Eras Antique and Costume Shop, this used to be the site of what was billed as Chicago’s first Shopping Mall: the Bishop Building Mall, built in 1924 by Harry Bishop at a cost of $220,000. Mr. Bishop, a wealthy Lumber Dealer, bought the property from Charles William Ferguson in 1911 when it was still farmland with a duck pond. The building was almost destroyed by a fire in 1984 but has since been restored. Some of the original features are still visible on the upstairs, where offices are rented to rock bands for practice sessions.
