Ardmore Avenue Soundex Code A635

5600 N. from 934 W. to 7828 W. This street is in Edgewater and West Ridge - ONLY

The City Council passed a lengthy ordinance January 14, 1895, rationalizing the street naming system. Ardmore Avenue had only two addresses that existed before the new street numbering system went into effect. These are: old 1218, new 1122; and old 1224, new 1128. Any other address came after the new street numbering system went into effect and no conversions are needed.

John Lewis Cochran the developer of the Edgewater community, named this street after the Suburb of Ardmore, one of the towns on the Main Line, a Commuter Rail line running west out of his home town of Philadelphia.

Not listed in the 1895, 1897, 1898, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 Chicago Blue Book.
