Andrew Jackson was the first Postmaster of the Rogers Park Post Office for 7 years, from 1873 to 1880.

Whether Andrew Jackson was a storekeeper or had another business in the community is not known. However, his first year's salary was only $12, leading one to wonder about his having to supplement his income. Post office business grew as the population increased, so that Jackson's salary reached $350.02 in 1877.

Andrew Jackson was prominent in the community. He was elected a trustee with village incorporation in 1878 and served as village president until 1881. He also was one of the founders of the Rogers Park Building and Land Company started by Patrick Leonard Touhy and others in 1870.
