Reverend Alfred Louderback assisted the Right Reverend William E. McLaren, Bishop of the Diocese, in conducting the first service of this new Episcopalian congregation, St. Paul's Episcopal Church By-the-Lake, which was held in the basement of the Methodist Meeting House. A second service was held on Sunday, April 30, 1882, in the same place, by Reverend Louderback, officiating. Five persons were baptized.
