Born in Scott Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, July 11, 1838 to Joseph Swan Wheeler and Hannah Wheeler, nee: Hannah Burdick.

Siblings: Ann Elizabeth Wheeler; Joseph Henry Wheeler; Mary Jane Wheeler; Lucy Angeline Wheeler; James Swan Wheeler.

Albert married Charlotte Wheeler, nee: Charlotte Berry and had 12 children. He passed away on Monday, September 14, 1891.

Children: Albert Wheeler; Benjamin Wheeler; Noyes Wheeler; Mary C. Wheeler; Hanna Wheeler (daughter); Albert G. Wheeler (son); Arthur Wheeler; Frank Wheeler; Martha A. Wheeler; Lillian Clarissa Wheeler; Benira Wheeler; Joseph S. Wheeler.

Albert Gallatin Wheeler was the President of the Illinois Tunnel Company.
