The City Council passed a lengthy ordinance January 14, 1895, rationalizing the street naming system. Under the old street numbering system, Albany did not run north of 2745 which is 4532 under the new system. This is south of Bryn Mawr, the southern border of West Ridge. So, there are no street number conversions for any addresses in West Ridge.

Named by an early real estate developer, DeLancey Horton Louderbach (?-1914), who was a founder in the 1880s of the community of Albany Park, now a Chicago neighborhood, He named the community and the street for his hometown, Albany, New York.
