This site was included in the 1989 Annual Fall House Tour

Circa - 1904 - original owner - G.M. Carlson

Present owner: Ralph and Peggy Cusick who bought the house in 1968.

Built in 1904, the Cusick's house can be categorized as a Suburban Chicago house. It sits on a stone foundation and contains two floors. The roof has two dormers; one facing west on the street side and the other on the north side of the building. In the entry is an enclosed remodeled porch with French windows. Before the enclosure, it was open with pickets held together by a rail. The original Doric pillars still hold the roof of the porch.

The first floor's characteristics are two beveled doors; take you first to the vestibule and then to the living room and to the second floor. Here you have stained glass windows, oak floors and birch trim. The dining room is directly south of the living room which has an octagon shape with a large bay window. This was also remodeled recently (1989).

Just North of the living room is what was once called the mud room. This area still (1989) has its original cabinets. West of the mud room is the kitchen with its original design enhanced by its early stove in its original position. The cabinets were removed and in their place is the sink. Moving back towards the vestibule, there were initially two beautiful birch staircases which led to the second floor. One staircase still takes you upstairs where there are four bedrooms and a bathroom. The second staircase was changed into a powder room. Evidence of this double staircase can be seen under the powder room's basin cabinet.
