Ms. Gordon purchased this beautiful two-story classic Chicago Bungalow in August 1992. It had been previously owned by only two families. The Anderson Family occupied the house from the date it was built until prior to the Great Depression. The Siemen Family, the second owners, purchased it from the estate of the Anderson daughters.

The home's original woodwork and Art Deco fixtures add interest, character, and, Ms. Gordon says, "a certain wisdom" to this special home.

When she purchased the home, its kitchen had been updated in a style appropriate for that time period. Two years ago, she envisioned a highly functioning kitchen space that allowed for greater socializing while honoring the traditional Chicago Bungalow style. She eliminated two small bedrooms adjacent to the kitchen and removed their separate doors, creating a larger, open entry to a new family space. Hardwood flooring extending through both the family space and renovated kitchen emphasized the seamless flow. To the kitchen Ms. Gordon also added a center island, painted maple cabinets, and granite counter tops.

She believes that her home will always be a work of art in progress. The question is -- what will she do next?
