Tour The Leather Archives & Museum

February 27 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm

Leather Archives & Museum, 6418 North Greenview Avenue

In collaboration with the Leather Archives & Museum, RPWRHS is offering a tour of the archives and museum curated by Mel Leverich, LA&M Archivist.

Leather is a style, an identity, and a community within our neighborhood.  The Leather style and culture developed in the gay bars and motorcycle clubs of the 1950s and 1960s.  What better way to meet and understand these community members than through a tour of the Leather Archives & Museum. Founded by Chuck Renslow and Tony DeBlase in 1991, LA&M is an archive, a library, and a museum of leather, kink, fetish, and BDSM history and culture.

Some things to note:

  • You must be 18 years or older to enter the Archives & Museum. A valid ID may be required.
  • The building was built in the 1950s as a synagogue but that space will not be accessible on the tour.
  • Tour-takers should be able to climb stairs to access portions of the Archive and Museum.
  • The tour has limited opportunity to sit, so be prepared to stand.
  • By signing up for the tour you acknowledge and consent to see very explicit sex-focused objects and exhibits within the Leather Archives and Museum.

The guided tour takes about 90 minutes.  After the tour, you will have time to explore the Museum and its exhibits on your own.

Tickets are $25 for non-RPWRHS members, $20.00 with member discount. Proceeds of the tour will be shared between the Museum and RPWRHS. Capacity is limited. Pre-registration and advance payment is required.
