Addressing the Needs of Asylum Seekers in Chicago

Since August 2022, Chicago has experienced a surge in forced migration. Over 19,500 asylum seekers have been bused from Texas to Chicago in order to stress the city’s status as a “Sanctuary City. Alderperson Andre Vasquez, Chair of the Chicago City Council Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Rights, will provide an overview of the steps being taken in the 40th Ward and the rest of the city to help resettle asylum seekers who have recently arrived in Chicago. Learn how Chicago is assisting the current surge of asylum seekers and how individuals within the community can help.

The program is free and open to all, but seating is limited. Preregister to assure your place.
