In our on-going celebration of Indian Boundary Park’s Centennial Year, this year’s tour will take place in the Rogers Park Manor Historic Bungalow District immediately south of the park. Enjoy a great afternoon in this quiet neighborhood that was created when Indian Boundary Park spurred a development boom in the 1920s.
The Homes
All homes on the tour have been honored with awards bestowed by the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association and the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation for projects representing the best in bungalow landscaping, rehabilitation and restoration. Many neighboring homes, while not award-winners, are equally worthy as outstanding examples of classic Chicago Bungalow architecture
The tour will begin at the Indian Boundary Park Cultural Center, also a recipient of Driehaus Foundation recognition for the restoration work done after a 2012 fire seriously damaged the historic building. From the Cultural Center, participants will take a self-guided walking tour of the architecturally- and historically-rich area, with stops at six award-winning homes where homeowner hosts will share stories of their homes and their preservation projects.
