Great Chicago House (Photo) Hunt

November 5, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

Free

The next Great Chicago House Hunt Session is November 5, when you can become a digital history detective and help identify photos from our archive.

Over the years, we’ve accumulated many photographs of homes, commercial buildings and other places in the neighborhood with limited information as to their location, date or subject matter. We’re filling in the details for as many as we can, and you can help.

Join Rob Case, our Ace Photo Archivist, for a Great Chicago House Hunt session, where he’ll show you how to use modern digital resources like Google Streetview, old phone books and other internet resources to search for clues in photos. No experience necessary, but it helps if you’re comfortable with using Google for searches and have other basic internet skills.

Bring your laptop, smartphone or tablet, put on your detective hat, and join us for a fun afternoon as a history detective in training.

Note: if you don’t have a smart device, our office has a limited number of computers that will also be available for use.

Can’t come on November 5? The next photo hunt is December 10. Each session is limited to 6 participants. Register now for the date of your choice.
