Chicago Public Library, North Town Branch, 6800 N. Western
Whether you are an official member of RPWRHS or not, please join us for our 2025 Annual Meeting.
After a brief report on the State of the Society and election of members to the Board of Directors, Dr. Rose Miron, Vice President of Research and Education at the Newberry Library and former Director of the D’Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies, will lead us through a new history of Chicago that centers Indigenous presence, and discusses the mission, development and status of the Indigenous Chicago project.
Indigenous Chicago is a collaborative project between the Newberry Library, the Chicago American Indian Community, and tribal nations who have ancestral ties to Chicago. As a living archive, Indigenous Chicago includes digital resources, interactive maps, high school curriculum, oral histories, and public programs exploring our regional history through Indigenous voices, reminding us that Chicago has always been, and continues to be, a Native place.
This event is free and open to all. Only RPWRHS members may vote in the election.
