What do filmmaker Harold Ramis, businessman Emil Bach and gangster Herbert “Fat Herbie” Blitzstein all have in common? They all called Rogers Park or West Ridge home at some time in their lives, along with a long line of other achievers stretching from the earliest days of settlement on the Ridge to today.

Each month, we will share a story of the notable and notorious residents of our neighborhood’s past. We’ll introduce you to significant residents in Rogers Park and West Ridge history, and examine how they helped shape our community, the entirety of Chicago, and beyond.
