Join us for a Peak in the Archives of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, a Potluck Picnic, and a walking tour of the Labyrinth and Gardens of Saint Scholastica Monastery.

In its early beginnings, the Rogers Park West Ridge Historical Society would host picnics some of which occurred at Saint Scholastica Monastery.

In the spirit of those early days of the Society, join us for a Presentation and Potluck Picnic in the Garden, near the Gazebo at the Saint Scholastica Monastery. Sr. Virginia Jung, OSB, Archivist for Saint Scholastica Monastery / Benedictine Sisters of Chicago will present a brief history of the Benedictine Sisters and some of her findings in her ongoing archival work.  For the picnic, the Society will provide all-beef Kosher hot dogs and plant-based hot dogs on the grill with condiments and a side dish or two. For those who would like to join in the festivities and bring a side dish to share, a sign-up sheet will be distributed to attendees.

The presentation will be followed by a walk to the Labyrinth and a tour of the Gardens, which serves as a spiritual sanctuary in the city for prayerful contemplation.

In case of rain, festivities will transfer to the Oasis room on the property.

A portion of the proceeds for this event will go to the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago in support of their ministries.
