Julia Bachrach

Julia Bachrach, author, lecturer and former Chicago Park District historian, addressed an audience at the Indian Boundary Park field house on Monday evening, May 8th on the topic of honoring women who were important in Chicago’s history by naming Chicago parks and beaches in their memory. The well-attended event was held in the recently-restored Tudor Revival-style field house that was designed by Clarence Hatzfield in 1929 and decorated with architectural motifs of Native Americans. Indian Boundary Park was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and the field house was made a Chicago Landmark in 2005.

David Orr

David Orr, Rogers Park resident, former 49th Ward Alderman and current Cook County Clerk, addressed a full audience at the Rogers Park branch of the Chicago Public Library on Wednesday evening April 26th. He shared a personal retrospective of how social and political activism shaped Rogers Park and influenced the dynamics of City Hall. His presentation was part of our Living History Series the theme of which for 2017 is “Activism!”.
