House Walk

September 14, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society’s 28th Annual House Tour will feature the Peterson Woods neighborhood in the far southwest corner of West Ridge for the very first time. Peterson Woods, called “one of Chicago’s best kept secrets,” is bordered on the west by lovely Legion Park, a recreational “green belt” between Bryn Mawr and Peterson Avenues. Many of this neighborhood’s homes were built between 1925 and 1935 for members of Chicago’s elite, and feature turrets, Tudor-style wood beams, tile roofs, leaded windows, and wrought iron fencing. Some of these homes have only had three owners.

The house tour will take place from noon to 4 pm on Sunday, September 14. Highlights of the tour will be a visit to a fabulous “castle” on the corner of Hollywood and Virginia, and a beautifully upgraded mansion on Sacramento. Tour attendees will also have the opportunity to hear about the history of Legion Park from Chicago historian Arlene Schwartzman. Light refreshments will be served.

Pre-registration has ended.
