t the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 10, the members in attendance elected the 2010-2011 Board of Directors.Because we’re operating under the newly approved bylaws, this was the last election in which the entire Board would be elected. Hereinafter, approximately half of the Board is required to be elected to a two-year term at each Annual Meeting.
To accomplish this, the bylaws required that, at the first regular meeting after the annual meeting, the newly elected Board of Directors would draw lots to see who will serve one year and who will serve for the full two years. Those directors that drew the one-year term are to be elected at the 2011 annual meeting to two-year terms. Those directors that drew the two-year terms will not come up for election until 2012. In this way the entire Board will never again come up for election at the same time.
The first regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors after the Annual Meeting was held on Monday, February 22. At that time, slips with the word “one” or “two” were put into a hat and each director selected one.
The results were as follows:
One-Year Terms will be held by: Jonathan Dixon; Glenna Eaves; Marcia Hermansen; Katie Paluch; and Colleen Sen. They will come up for election to a two-year term in 2011.
Two-Year Terms will be held by: Paul Bluestone; Sr. Sue Kidulski, O.S.B.; Nancy Jane Lauren; Carl Lingenfelter; Hank Morris; Denis Paluch; and Karen Tipp. They will come up for re-election to an additional two-year term in 2012.
As required by the new bylaws, the Board members in attendance elected the four officers for the 2010-2011 term. The new officers are: Jonathan Dixon, President, Glenna Eaves, Vice President; Carl Lingenfelter, Treasurer; and Sr. Sue Kidulski, O.S.B., Secretary.
Finally, as per the new bylaws, all directors’ titles are just that, directors. We no longer have a “Director of
Publications,” etc. Each director is required to chair a committee and be a member of a second committee. It is hoped that this will encourage more people in the future to consider being a director of the society. In the past, because directors were known as “director of xxx” when a vacancy occurred, filling it wasn’t always easy and some positions went unfilled.
